MISCELLANEOUS TIPS TO MAKE LIFE EASIER

As parents of kids on the spectrum, we may have a little more to deal with than the average parent. This is always apparent, but even more so at a seminar I attended recently. Included in the group were parents and professionals, and the topic got around to behaviors (as it so often does!)  One family was begging for advice on hair cuts for their 6 year old autistic son.  Every single parent in the room chimed in with their own stories about this issue. The speaker, a well respected professional with a very good grasp of our situations responded with "Lot's of typical kids hate getting their hair cut".

Well, the room went quiet. There are so many things the rest of the world takes for granted (like haircuts, nail clipping, malls, parties, weather conditions...and on...and on...) that can take hours of careful planning on our parts.

With this in mind, we present the following section. Some, but not all of it applies to having kids on the spectrum, it is simply a tool to help make life just a little easier.

We welcome any suggestions you might have in this area. Please use the "contact us" icon to email us your tips. Don't worry, we only use nicknames and never use the names of your kids, or your emails. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us!

Please enjoy!
