Some of our kids
are runners. Some do not feel physical pain in the way a neuro-typical person
will, thereby increasing danger. Some of our kids are violent or
self-injurious. Some throw things, write on walls, destroy possessions, open
window and climb out and on, and on.
We present a short
section with ideas and sites in an attempt to help make our lives, and the
lives of our kids safer. Baby proofing companies can be contacted to inquire
whether they will customize the more traditional safety products for use with
an older/stronger/taller child. You could also hire a carpenter and totally
eliminate the “middle-man”.

You can even order Personalized Iron-on Clothing Labels, Name Tags, and I.D. Products by Indentifind. Read up on Autism Safety Techniques "Understanding and Approaching Individuals with Autism" and "Recognizing Autism and Other Severe Developmental Disorders". Both sites are geared toward those with no prior experience with autistics, but may come in handy for some of us. |
